Rod Licences for England and Wales

You can buy your rod licence over the Internet via the Environment Agency web site. (There is a nominal administration charge, and Pensioner/Disabled licences are currently excluded from the scheme.)

Licences are also available at Post Offices in England and Wales. Full-season licences are also obtainable by telephone.

Annual salmon, sea trout (also covers trout, coarse fish & eels) £66-50 £33-25 (also for those over 65)
8-day trout, coarse fish and eels £8-75 Adult rates apply
8-day salmon, sea trout (also covers trout, coarse fish and eels) £21-00 Adult rates apply
1-day trout, coarse fish and eels £3-25 Adult rates apply
1-day salmon, sea trout (also covers trout, coarse fish and eels) £7-00 Adult rates apply
Children under 12 years   Rod licence not required

Rules for obtaining a concessionary licence
Concessionary rates apply to people who are:

  • over 12 years old but under 17 on the day they buy the licence
  • aged 65 and over
  • holders of an appropriate disability certificate

Adult applicants for concessions will be required to provide proof of eligibility and identity. (Last year's concessionary rod licence plus a driving licence are acceptable.)
