Rod Licences for England and Wales

You can buy your rod licence over the Internet via the Environment Agency web site.

Licences are also available at Post Offices in England and Wales. Full-season licences are also obtainable by telephone.

Licence charges for 2010 season (valid from 1st April 2010 until 31st March 2011 - NB fisheries are also subject to byelaw close season restrictions)

Updates are published annualy in early March at http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/fish

Annual salmon, sea trout (also covers trout, coarse fish & eels) £72 aged (over 65 or Blue Badge/DLA rate £48) £5

8-day salmon, sea trout (also covers trout, coarse fish and eels) £23 Adult rates apply
1-day trout, coarse fish and eels £3-75 Adult rates apply

Children under 12 years   Rod licence not required

Rules for obtaining a concessionary licence
Concessionary rates apply to people who are:

  • over 12 years old but under 17 on the day they buy the licence
  • aged 65 and over
  • holders of an appropriate Blue Badge or in receipt of Disability Living Allowance

Adult applicants for concessions will be required to provide proof of eligibility and identity. (Last year's concessionary rod licence plus a driving licence are acceptable.)
