Trout fishing at Brynhawc
There is plenty of bank fishing on this beat

This is a productive fishery right from the start of the season, as spring salmon tend to rest in Jack's Pool, and the rich ranunculus beds in the shallwer stretches provide cover for trout and an abundance of insect life.

The Brynhawc beat includes several famous and productive salmon and sea trout pools including Pwll Garreg Glas, Pwll Prysg, Vicar's and Jack's Pool. There are also some excellent brown trout stretches, especially from Pwll Prysg down through Vicar's run  to where the river enters Jack's Pool.

Statistics
Beat 8, comprising 1.5 miles of single bank fishing on the right (Ceredigionshire) bank of the Teifi at Maesycrugiau, was purchased in April 1975.

Access and parking

Parking at Maesycrugiau Bridge
The access point at
Maesycrugiau Bridge
Upper section is accessed via Gwawrbrest-gwynwydd Farm
Acces to upper stretch via
Gwarbrest-gwynwydd Farm

Access to the bottom half of this beat is via a stile and footpath on the right bank upstream from Maesycrugiau Bridge. There is a limited amount of space, in the lane, at the end of the bridge; please park to avoid obstructing the road.

Approximately half way up the beat, the path through the wood is steep sided and can be difficult, especially in wet weather. Better access to the upper part of this fishery is available via Gwarbrest-gwynwydd Farm, at Allt Fechan, where members are requested to park without blocking access to fields or farm buildings.

Beat limits
Our fishing starts after the first 100 yards of fast water above the road bridge; an orange marker sign on a bankside tree denotes the lower limit of our waters.

The upper limit of our waters is also marked by an orange Llandysul AA end-of-beat sign.

Rules
Jack's Pool, the first deep pool upstream of Maesycrugiau Bridge, is designated 'Odd/Even Permits'. Members/visitors with odd numbered tickets may fish there from noon on odd numbered days of the month until noon the following day. (Vice-versa for even permit numbers.)

The fishing from Pwll Prysg down through Vicar's to the run above Jack's Pool is designated 'fly only'.
