Trebedw Fishery (Beat 14a)

A good sea trout lie near the top of the beat

Trebedw is a short beat but very productive for sea trout. A strong, stock-proof fence on our bank ensures that cattle do not create a quagmire in the margins.

Along the top 50 metres the river is shallow and tree-lined, deepening gradually on our (right) bank. Over the remainder of the beat our bank is mainly clear, and sea trout tend to lie against the far bank.

A few salmon are caught here each season. It is not noted as a trout fishery, although a few nice fish can be seen rising to sedges on summer evenings.

If you can cast reasonably accurately at distances up to 18 yards, you should be able to cover most fish from the bank.

We have been renting this 600 yard fishery, near the village of Henllan, since 1995.

With no Llandysul A A car park on this beat, members using the pull-in near the access point are requested to ensure that access to the field gate is not obstructed.

There is a single access path to the fishery, approximately a mile (1.5 km) from Henllan Bridge on the B4334. Access is via a lane at Trebedw village. The access point is marked by an orange Llandysul A A sign, and a path with a series of steps leads down to a field gate to the right of Ddol, a private house.

Orange Llandysul A A signs, affixed to riverside trees, mark the upper and lower limits of the fishery.

There are stiles for crossing the fence adjacent to either end of the beat. For safety reasons, and to prevent damage to the fence, please do not attempt to cross the fence elsewhere.
