The River Teifi at Lampeter

The River Teifi was the top sea trout river in 2003 and again in 2004, beating every other river in England and Wales by a  very substantial margin. In 2005 and 2006 the Teifi was just pipped for first place by its neighbouring river the Towy.

Trout fishing in mid summer is generally best in the evenings but, as is to be expected, more difficult during the heat of the day. Sedge flies and terrestrials (daddy long-legs, black gnats and beetles) are the main food sources during the day from August to the end of September.

To avoid duplication on the Web only a typical year's results are recorded below; they apply for 1999, which was a good but not exceptional year for the Teifi:
